Five - Year Dual BSEE / MSEE Program

The Five-Year Dual Degree Program is available to students in the last two semesters of their senior year who meet all requirements. Apply for the dual degree program the semester before! Five-year students will be able to double count six graduate credit hours toward their dual degrees by selecting 5000 or 6000 level courses for their undergraduate electives.

1. Applicants must have 30 credits or less to completion of their undergraduate program.

2. An undergraduate EE student accepted into the Five-Year Program must have an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher in their undergraduate program.

3. Students MUST pass the general GRE (1000 VQ total) and if applicable, international students must pass the TOFEL.

4. Students MUST maintain a 3.0 in their graduate program.

5. Students will have the choice of the course-work/ project, or thesis option.

6. Dual degree students MUST apply for both their BSEE and their MSEE degrees at the same time for the semester all graduation requirements are met for both degrees. NOTE: If a student fulfills all the requirements of their BSEE degree and wants to graduate, they must withdraw from the 5-year program, re-enter the undergraduate program and apply for graduation. They will then have to reapply for the EE Master's program by the standard procedures. If a student selects to withdraw from the five-year path, the advantage of double counting six credit hours will be lost

7. Once accepted into the Five-Year Program, undergraduate students will be treated as regular graduate students as far as tuition for 4000, 5000, 6000 level courses is concerned. There will be no tuition waivers for 2000 and 3000 level courses.

To this effect, each engineering department has developed a list of courses that undergraduate students must have completed before entering the 5-year program.
