General Description:

The second USF International Workshop on Digital and Computational Video (DCV) presents and explores the trends in digital and computational video including but not limited to the applications, technology and mathematical aspects of this 21st century area.

This one-day workshop aims to bring together researchers and users to share their experiences, vision and methodologies.

By providing a forum which would include experts from mathematical sciences, medicine, engineering, computer science, education, fine arts and television, it intends to cross-fertilize ideas and to bridge cross-cultural differences.
The workshop will include keynote presentations and regular paper presentations on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Telemedicine
  • Digital television
  • Standards conversion
  • Motion estimation and
    compensation
  • 3D modeling
  • Digital arts and animation
  • Algorithms and software
  • Stereo vision
  • Computed medical imaging
  • Mass communications
  • Mathematical morphology
  • Networked video
  • Distance learning
  • Camera on a chip
  • Microelectronics for Video
PAPERS: The program committee invites authors to submit a three to four page summary of their paper. Papers should clearly describe the nature of the work, explain its significance, highlight its novel features, and project its scientific, medical, industrial or other applications significance. Authors of selected papers will be requested to prepare a manuscript for the workshop proceedings, which will be published and mailed to the participants after the workshop. Final paper length should not exceed ten (10) pages.

Summaries due: November 10, 2000
Notification of acceptance: December 08, 2000
Final camera ready manuscript due:	February 9, 2001

DCV'01 will be held in conjuction with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Advanced Technology Program presentations and the related "Bidder's Conference" on Feb 8. More details will be provided in the second Call for Papers and on the workshop web site.

The DCV'01 Workshop is sponsored by
the Center for Digital and Computational Video (CDCV),
University of South Florida

Location: The workshop will be held in Tampa, on Florida's west coast. It is widely known that two of the best beaches in the world are located on this coast; therefore the Tampa Bay area is an exceptional vacation destination, or for that matter a conference destination.
The workshop site is next door to the famous Busch Gardens, and only an hour away from the Walt Disney World.
Tampa is also the home to the University of South Florida, the intellectual and technological center for nearly four million people.
The weather in early February is usually mild and very pleasant.
